We think that large washable dogs beds are among the best, but take a stroll through a pet store or spend an afternoon browsing the internet and you’ll find that there are just as many dog beds on the market as there are dog breeds.  And while choice is nice, the endless array of options can be quite overwhelming – especially for a novice pet owner.  So how do you decide which is best for your pet?

The first question you need to ask is will your dog be an inny or an outy.  For pups who call your backyard home, outdoor dog kennel beds are great.  They’re large and tough but give your dog a comfortable place to sleep in the rugged outdoors.

For indoor dogs, the list is inexhaustible.  Lambswool dog beds are nice for their soft, snuggly texture and are quite popular with the small breeds.  Small leather dog beds are also a good choice; they’re easy to clean and very durable.

If you’ve got a large breed, generally any large washable dog bed will work fine.

For older dogs or dogs with bad joints, you may want to look at the simmons orthopedic dog beds which help to cradle the dogs body and relieve various pressure points.  They even offer orthopedic tear resistant dog beds for pooches who like to chew.

Whatever you choose, just be sure it’s big enough for your dog, is washable and safe.  That glamorous dog bed outfitted with pink fringe and fake fur might be the perfect match for your dog’s pink rhinestone collar, but you’ll definitely be having second thoughts if your dog has an appetite for pink fringe! Always be careful to make sure your purchase is a match for your dog.
